September '26

Hi all... Is it really September already? ( Well, it's supposed to start tomorrow so there's still a chance that August could get an extension)- It's feeling positively autumnal out here at corporate HQ. It feels like this song:

Thanks to all who came out to my tour of Ontario Provincial parks this past month. It was a blast.

September is filled with preparing for two major events for me, then it's diving into production on my new album, so not a lot of shows to bother you about.

It's last call for the 7th annual Arvi and James Songwriting retreat coming up Sept 10th-13th- This year with a new addition to our schedule: Arvi has been studying 'sound bathing' and she'll give us morning sessions in this inspiring activity.

THEN- Sept. 19th it's the 4th annual "Praise The Ward" festival in my 'hood here in Guelph- Today is the last day to get the early bird special for tickets! It's gonna be a great one this year. I am fortunate to be part of a great team of volunteers who bring this wingding to life every year.

Then... into the studio.

AN advance notice about a fun show in October- a rare duo appearance with my old friend Ian Bell- at the Brampton Folk Club Oct. 30th.. tickets on sale now for the whole series- which is a great line-up! We'll be doing a song and story swap... anything could happen.

And since this is a very short, (for me) newsletter, A very short Road Tale of the Month from my appearance a couple of weeks ago at Killbear Park north of Parry Sound Ontario, where I was greeted at the stage by two lovely park residents.

They didn't stay for the show. I guess the tickets were too dear. My park shows tend to last until the bugs take over. This one featured lots of kids doing interpretive dancing to my folk ballads, about where that deer is standing. When the show was over, I always invite the audience to peruse my extensive James Gordon Boutique. Here it is from that night:

In a sobering sign of the times, a young audience member, maybe ten years old, came up and admired the table and said "How much for the pretty pictures?" It took me a minute to realize that he was talking about the CDs, which is a medium he had never seen or heard of. Since few people are listening to CDs these days ( But they are downloading my music from jamesgordonmusic.bandcamp.com !), I'm going to have to borrow that young man's marketing suggestion and sell the little darlings as art for tiny homes.
